ARC has worked with Asylum Seekers and Refugees in Blackburn with Darwen since 2004.

ARC aims to create a community where those fleeing war, violence and persecution can feel

safe and supported as well as getting the vital practical help they need. The main objectives

of ARC is to support Asylum seekers and Refugees integrate into UK society, provide timely

advice and support to many people who are initially desperate, confused, frightened and

traumatised by the upheaval they have faced.

ARC Blackburn is looking to expand its Board of Trustees. We are seeking to appoint 2-3

new trustees who will bring new skills and experience to our board. Our Trustee board has

ultimate responsibility for the governance and strategic direction of the charity, ensuring that

we uphold our ethos and values and deliver our objective to care for and support all Asylum

seeker and Refugees in the Borough. 

Meeting once a month at our office in Blackburn and with some additional committee

work, it works with management to ensure that the charity fulfils its objects as defined in

its Articles, acts in accordance with the charity’s vision and mission, and complies with

relevant legal and regulatory requirements.

Having conducted a review of the skills within the current Board membership, we are

especially interested to hear from potential trustees with expertise and experience in the

following areas: 

 Legal experience with experience of working in the Third sector.

 Human Resources and Change Management.

 Finance and Accounting.

 Communications & Media

 Fundraising/Bid Writing

 Business Management/Governance & Organisational Strategy
